Francis Opticians founded in 1889
Francis Opticians is the Second Oldest Business in Wrexham after Gerrards Bakery. Originally opening in 1889 alongside a Pharmacy, Francis Opticians Wrexham is now located on Chester Street in the City Centre.
Francis Opticians Chirk opened in 1976 and is located on Station Avenue, Chirk. Barbara Wilson the previous owner continues to work Part Time in Chirk. Francis Opticians Buckley is located on Mold Road and joined the Francis group end of 2024 when it expanded and welcomed the Staff and Patients from A1 Vision. It was previously branded Armstrong and North and continues to be part of that group of Independent Opticians.

I called Francis Opticians in Chirk after suffering from sudden vision change in one eye, no where could see me for weeks but the receptionist here went above and beyond to re-assure me they could and would help me, seeing me the following day. The service i recieved was none other than excellent, I had constant reasurance from the Optician herself whilst going through all tests. Would highly reccomend this Opticians - for emergency care or general eye care.

I live about 36 miles away from Chirk but they fitted me in as an emergency as I was having trouble with one eye and couldn’t get in anywhere nearer in Wales. They were so attentive and efficient that I would highly recommend them. Chirk residents are lucky to have them on their doorstep.

The service provided in store was excellent from the moment of the first general enquiry to the booking of the eye test and check to the supply of the glasses, all at a great price.
The staff were all very courteous and I would recommend using this local company who fully understood all of my requirements. Thanks again for a good overall service.

I have just had a really extensive series of tests under the WECS scheme as I was having vision problems. This service was professionally extended in a most thorough and caring manner. All staff in the practise were so welcoming. I will no longer go back to my usual opticians where you are made to feel as if you are on a busy conveyor belt. "I should have gone" years ago to this local optician but I will certainly do so in the future. Highly recommended.

Annual eye test for my wife. She was very happy with the service. Staff are polite and friendly and the optician is very knowledgeable. Excellent service and highly recommended.

Always a pleasure to go to this opticians, always very friendly, very thorough. They take their time explaining things with you. Receptionist greets you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recommend

My wife and I have been clients of this Practice for nearly 30 years and always had excellent service.
My wife had an accident resulting in nerve damage - over the years the resulting problems she experiences with her eyes have been addressed by Mr and Mrs Wilson - She needs modified glasses with dark/blocked out lenses, etc.
Over the years Marta has researched suitable glasses - the last pair proving VERY difficult because of lack of suitable frames and craftsmen to adapt them. It took her quite a while to source them but she has been successful in finding glasses which have improved my wife’s life considerably.

Telephoned with an eye problem. Receptionist very helpful and reassuring. Gave me a quick appointment and kept checking for cancellations. Mrs Wilson the optometrist did an excellent examination and explained everything clearly. Very pleased with everything and will certainly recommend them.

After some difficulty contacting Reception I eventually I got a prompt appointment with the optomoterist, Barbara, who gave me a very comprehensive and thorough check. 5 stars for Barbara, rather fewer for reception, I'm afraid.

Terrible service made me wait outside for 30 minuets as I was there ten minutes early , I couldn’t wait any longer . You have lost a good customer of almost 20 years shame on you

Personal service with that extra touch. They go the extra mile to ensure that your optical needs are fully met. The care and attention offered to my elderly mother in law has been second to none, ensuring that her glasses exactly meet her changing requirements. First class.
